First thus, 4 vols, 8vo. (230mm x 140mm), contemporary full morocco , gilt panelled spine, a.e.g., 24 plates and 26 vignettes.

Esteemed edition of “Don Quixote,” illustrated and translated by a father and daughter team, engraved from paintings of Robert Smirke and translated by her daughter Mary Smirke.
Smirke became a full member of the Royal Academy with his paintings on Don Quixote and Sancho in 1793. Some of his work is currently in the Guildhall Art Gallery. This is an attractive copy of interest to all Cervantes collectors.

Condition:  occasional foxing and offsetting from the plates,  rubbed  corners, bookplate of Charles Crofton-Atkins. Very good, please see pictures.
